Korean Electricity Bill Calculator — Residential Progressive Rates
CalculatorA Korean electricity bill calculator applies the KEPCO residential progressive tariff to monthly usage (kWh) and returns an estimated bill including base charge, tiered energy charges, climate charge, fuel adjustment, 10% VAT, and the 2.7% power industry fund.
What is it
Korea's residential electricity tariff is progressive: the unit price rises with monthly usage. The bill is base charge + tiered energy charge + climate charge (9 KRW/kWh) + fuel cost adjustment (capped at ±5 KRW/kWh), then 10% VAT and a 2.7% power industry fund contribution are added. In summer (July-August) the tiers relax to 300/450 kWh, and in summer and winter a super-user rate applies to usage above 1,000 kWh. This calculator uses KEPCO tariff constants as of 2026-07-06 and excludes welfare discounts, TV license fees, and other adjustments, so actual bills can differ when tariffs change.
How to use
- 1Pick the contract type (residential low or high voltage) and the season.
- 2Enter monthly usage in kWh.
- 3Press calculate to see the itemized breakdown and estimated bill.

FAQ
How much is a Korean electricity bill for 350 kWh a month?
About KRW 70,640 on the residential low-voltage tariff outside summer: energy KRW 56,190 + base KRW 1,600 + climate KRW 3,150 + fuel adjustment KRW 1,750 = KRW 62,690, plus VAT KRW 6,269 and power fund KRW 1,690.
Are the progressive tiers different in summer?
Yes. From July 1 to August 31 the tiers relax to 300 kWh and 450 kWh, so the same usage can cost less than in other seasons.
Does this include welfare discounts or the TV license fee?
No. It calculates the standard tariff amount only and excludes welfare discounts, large-family discounts, TV license fees, and autopay discounts. Check your KEPCO bill for the final amount.
Is electricity bill input sent to a server?
No. This calculator runs in your browser using embedded tariff constants and does not send input to a server.
